Gutenbrunn, Austria and Eurovision

This was the scene when we arrived at the sleepy Austrian town of Gutenbrunn yesterday.

Gutenbrunn

It didn’t stay quiet for long. The show was sold out in advance and we had a very nice crowd. After the concert and the audience had left, we all went into the bar to drink some of the excellent local white wine and watched the round up and voting at the end of Eurovision. It was horribly compelling, but got more interesting when it became apparent that Conchita could win for Austria. The acceptance speech was a great bit of theatre and the bar went mad. Then the locals started coming back into the bar to celebrate. All credit to him/her for finally making some sense of this ghastly show.
