Bad Bentheim

Driving through mist and rain of lower Saxony, I arrived yesterday at the magnificent Bad Bentheim castle, much loved and painted by the Dutch landscape artist, Ruisdael.

I visited this castle a couple of years ago and when I walked into the chapel, built into a tower, I had a dream that I wanted to play there. I mentioned this to my friend Rainer who lives nearby and he just said, ‘maybe dreams can come true’.

Well they did, and I had a great first night there, a totally acoustic show in an extraordinary setting. A wonderful sound, curtesy of the medieval builders.
